Product description

A zinc primer is the first layer of metal protection, applied beneath the actual topcoat.

How does a zinc anti-corrosion primer work?

The high zinc content, 65-70%, provides cathodic protection: the zinc oxidises instead of the steel and slows corrosion even where the coating is locally damaged. The epoxy formula gives strong adhesion to the substrate and a hard, smooth base for the topcoat. The semi-matt anthracite of RAL 7016 also works well where the primer remains partly visible.

Application and use

We apply the primer electrostatically to a cleaned and degreased substrate, as a layer beneath a polyester or epoxy-polyester topcoat. It suits steel structures, industrial parts and components exposed to moisture and changing conditions. The best durability comes from a two-coat system: a zinc primer plus a UV-resistant topcoat.
